Museum of History and EthnographyThe Museum of History and Ethnography is one of the main museums in Malacca, and perhaps the only museum in Malacca worth a visit. The history museum documents the history of Malacca, which is the longest continuous history of any state in Malaysia. It begins with the establishment of Malacca, the Malacca Sultanate, the Portuguese, Dutch and British occupation, the Japanese occupation, and finally the years following independence. The Museum of History & Ethnography provides an interesting glimpse into the history of the various ethnic groups that make up the fabric of Malacca society, including the Malays, Chinese, Indians, Peranakan, Chitty and Eurasians. Various aspects of each culture is portraited including wedding ceremonies, musical instruments, and so on. Previous | Home |
